“Computer vision is not just about interpreting images it is about enabling machines to understand the world with precision, reliability, and intelligence.”
Dr. Hamid-Reza Pourreza is a senior computer vision scientist and professor with more than three decades of experience in artificial intelligence, machine vision, medical imaging, and intelligent systems. He has served as a Professor at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, a Research Scientist at Fleming College, a Visiting Professor at McMaster University, and a Research Assistant at Queen’s University. He spent over 30 years as a faculty member and later Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, where he founded and led the Machine Vision Laboratory.
His work spans a wide range of impactful domains, including automated diabetic retinopathy screening, early detection of retinopathy of prematurity, precision agriculture imaging, robotic vision systems, 3D scanner-based defect detection, and intelligent transportation systems. He has developed industrial-grade vision systems for robotics, exoskeletons, 3D printing defect detection, fruit sorting, cylindrical parts inspection, smart mirrors, and video-based traffic monitoring.
He has published over than 200 scientific papers in top international journals and conferences, collaborating with global researchers and multidisciplinary engineering teams. His work bridges academia and industry, focusing on solving real-world problems through advanced AI and imaging technologies. His mission is to expand the boundaries of intelligent vision systems and build solutions that enhance automation, safety, and quality across industries.

Quality control decisions made early in the manufacturing process can quietly shape everything that follows. Whether defects are caught immediately

As a manufacturer, you already know that consistent quality, efficiency, and quick response to the changing world of business is

While many people use the terms quality assurance and quality control interchangeably, they actually represent two distinct concepts. A good
